Not strictly 40 Days, but ...

In one sense this is not related to 40 Days, but in another sense it is. I received an email today from the Bible Society with this great testimony as below. This is why we do things like 40 Days, because we believe God's Word is powerful...

"Dawit was a murderer, a rapist and a thief. He was feared and hated around his town in rural Ethiopia. When he was finally caught he was imprisoned with a double life sentence.

In prison his life was transformed by the Proclaimer audio Bible.

‘One day during recess hour, a black box appeared in the communal room. It was a Proclaimer audio Bible provided by Bible Society and the voice that day was speaking out that God died for our sins. That night I couldn’t sleep. The message stuck with me. Even though I was rejected by society, Jesus Christ accepted me and loved me.’

Ten years on, Dawit is the prison pastor and coordinates the daily Bible listening groups."

What a fantastic testimony!

28 days to go

There's been a brilliant response to the invitation to sign up for 40 Days. Over 300 copies of the booklet have been requested.

The 'thoughts' from staff and deacons have been written, the design has been finished, and we will go to the printers this week.

Let's now pray that over the course of those 40 days all of the elements - our shared reading, our conversations, the Sunday messages, and so forth - will all inspire us in our love for God's word and for himself.

The readings start on Monday 27th April.

Sign up, sign up!

We had a great response to our first proper plug for 40 Days this Sunday with over 100 people registering their interest to follow the 40 Days readings.

It would be great to have another 100 by next Sunday wouldn't it?!
